I love this stuff. I made the switch a few months ago and figured since it actually works, I’ll now tell everyone my secret LOL. I already use coconut oil on a daily basis as a face wash, so why not make deodorant? I searched the internet for recipes. There are a few out there. I narrowed it down based upon what I really wanted it to do. I knew I wanted it to be a deodorant but I really wanted an antiperspirant. So that made it easy. You need baking soda for odor, and cornstarch for dryness. I didn’t care about smell so I didn’t scent mine, but you can use essential oils for that. So after hunting, I found the perfect recipe. Thank you Surviving The Stores for the perfect recipe.
5 Tbsp. of Coconut Oil
1/4 – 3/8 cup of Baking Soda
1/4 – 3/8 cup of Cornstarch or Arrowroot powder
I started with 1/4 cup of each and added more to get to the consistency I wanted.
Mix dry ingredients first.
Add in coconut oil and essential oils.
This is where you decide if you need more powdered items. Add in equal parts until you get the consistency that you want.
Put the mix in jars or old, cleaned out deodorant containers. I wasn’t that brave. I put it in sealed containers and keep the extra in my fridge because it gets hot here in FL and I didn’t want it to melt all over the place.
That’s it. 🙂
