My birth story

Social Good Moms asked us to share about our birth story and how we felt after birth with Save the Children. I think back often on Peanuts birth and how many changes I will be making the next time around.  Since this was my first birth, I really didn't know what to expect.  I put my full faith in my midwife and doctor.  This was such a mistake. About two weeks before I delivered, we were in the hospital because he wasn't moving as much as he should be.  I was nervous, as any first time Read more [...]

Day 20. Describe some significant memories from your childhood. #30things

Catching up on my 30 things my kids should know about me... Most of my childhood memories revolve around high school and I don't exactly want to share those memories.   But I do remember my mom's horse biting my baby brother.  We had been feeding Billy carrots... next thing you know,  my brother sticks his finger out and CHOMP.  Of course the horse thought the finger was a carrot, they look the same, I have seen a set of photos of my brother and I on the beach.  You can see me working Read more [...]

Day 24. What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about parenthood? #30things

Yet another of the funny #30things my kids should know.  I am never going to let Peanut live this down. Heaven help, right now my least favorite thing is poopy diapers....  This child has decided that he is an artist.  I have to catch the diapers before he figures out how to get it out and EVERYWHERE.  I know this is payback for the things I did to my mother as a child.  But, right now it seems like this is a daily game for him.  And he just finds it so flipping funny. But... my truly Read more [...]

Day 27. What is your favorite part of your body and why? #30things

Not sure why this is in the 30 things my kids should know about me but... here we go Right now, I love my hair.  Its settled down since pregnancy and I really like it.  Everything else is still attempting to return to its former glory.  It's amazing what pregnancy can do to a body.  I know they try to prepare you but nothing can prepare you for the damage.  I know there are people out there who are lucky and get away looking just as amazing as they did before the pregnancy, but I am not one Read more [...]

19. How did you feel the moment you became a parent?

I think you become a parent the moment you find out you are pregnant. At least, that's how it was for me. Every decision after that moment was about my child, no longer just about me. I was scared and excited and every emotion bundled into one. We were in the middle of wedding planning when we found out.  I remember just knowing I was, but I needed to take the test to be sure.  There were butterflies in my stomach.  Then, I needed to take a second test, just in case the first one was wrong.  Read more [...]

My Cloth Diaper Wash Routine

I have one of the simplest routines for washing diapers, or at least I like to think so. Grab from bottom of diaper organizer,  I am OCD about this because it keeps them in constant rotation. Pee diapers go right into pail. Poopy diapers... Dunk and swish.  I need a diaper sprayer. Into a wet bag and into the pail. I do a load every day or two.  It keeps it small.  You need as much water as possible in there to get them clean. I make my own laundry detergent.  Works great on Read more [...]
